Georgia has not received any request regarding the payment for Russian gas in rubles, the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation told Business Media.
Report's local bureau informs that in January-February this year, Georgia imported $116 million worth of natural gas, with supplies from Azerbaijan reaching $99 million and supplies from Russia making $17 million.
Azerbaijan remains Georgia's leading gas supplier. Meanwhile, recent years have seen an increase in the volume of natural gas imported from Russia, which met 12% of Georgia's natural gas needs in 2020 and 22% in 2021.
From April 1, Russia began to demand payment in rubles from the countries it termed 'unfriendly.'
EU countries did not accept this request and did not rule out that they may stop importing Russian gas.
Armenia has already started paying in rubles for natural gas from Russia.
