Uzbekistan eyes creating over 20 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030

Uzbekistan plans to create more than 20 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said at the opening of the Tashkent International Investment Forum, Report informs.

"Uzbekistan plans to create more than 20 GW of renewable energy potential by 2030 and increase its share in the energy balance to 40%. Improving the efficiency of the energy industry is important for our entire region. In this direction, work on 28 projects is being continued in our country," he said.

The President added that in 2023 alone, along with the companies Masdar, Gezhouba, and China Energy, large wind and solar power plants with a capacity of 1.4 GW were launched in the country.

Also, the implementation of the green hydrogen production project was started together with the ACWA Power company: "Today, within the framework of the forum, we will present to our investors the projects of joint construction of hydroelectric power plants in neighboring Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. We invite the leading companies from all countries to open dialogue and practical cooperation in this direction."
