Turkmenistan plans to increase gas production to 116BCM per year by 2029

Turkmenistan expects to increase gas production to 116 billion cubic meters per year by 2029, said Rustem Tekaev, head of the gas transportation and gas supply department of the Turkmengaz state concern, Report informs via Turkmen media.

"The concept of oil and gas sector development was presented by the government of Turkmenistan in the plan of socio-economic development of the country for 2022-2028. Gas production during this period is planned to be increased to 116 billion cubic meters, with more than half intended for export," he said during a session of the 9th international conference and exhibition "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan - 2024."

These plans are largely associated with the development of the Galkynysh field: it is expected that the second phase will provide an additional 20 billion cubic meters.

In 2023, Turkmenistan produced 80.6 billion cubic meters of gas, which is 2.9% more than in 2022. Thus, in 2028, gas production will exceed the 2023 figure by 43.9%. In 2023, Turkmenistan exported 39.5 billion cubic meters of gas.
