Turkiye’s new drilling vessel to start operating on August 9

Turkiye’s new drilling vessel Abdulhamid Han will start operating in the Eastern Mediterranean on August 9 this year, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Donmez said, Report informs referring to Anadolu Agency.

He noted that the vessel is in the port of Mersin off the southern coast of Turkiye, where it arrived on May 19 from the port of Okpo in South Korea.

After that, preparations for drilling began. Until now, three vessels have carried out exploration and drilling for the needs of Turkiye: Fatih, Kanuni and Yavuz.

The seventh-generation drilling vessel Abdulhamid Han is 238 meters long and 42 meters wide.

A team of 200 people can drill at depths up to 12,200 meters.

There are only 4-5 drilling vessels of this class in the world, and one of them is at the disposal of Turkiye.
