Thirty new small hydropower plants to be put into operation in Karabakh

It is planned to put into operation 30 new small hydroelectric power stations in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan. Report informs, citing Ogtay Pirverdiyev, director of the Mingachevir HPP.

"So far, 4 SHPPs have been put into operation in Karabakh. One of them is Gulabird with two units with a capacity of 7.5 MW in Lachin. The second SHPP is Kalbajar with a single unit. In addition, the capacity of each of the 3 units of Sugovushan-1 SHPP is 1.6 MW, the total capacity is 4.8 MW, and the capacity of each of the 3 units of Sugovushan-2 is 1 MW, and the total capacity is 3 MW. Currently, these 4 stations are operating in a normal mode, and work is underway to commission another 5 HPPs in the coming months," he said.

In addition, the official representative of Azerenergy said that the water necessary for the operation of the SHPP in Sugovushan comes from the Sarsang reservoir: "The electricity generated in Sugovushan is used to provide electricity to the villages of Talish and Sugovushan. The annual production capacity of the SHPP Sugovushan-1 is 13.8 million kW/h, and Sugovushan-2 - 7 million kW/h.
