STAR Refinery reduces crude oil imports by nearly 3%

STAR Refinery, an asset of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in Türkiye, imported 939,838 tons of crude oil in January 2024 (24.54% of total crude oil imports), down 26,831 tons, or 2.77%, from the previous year, Report informs referring to the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA).

In January 2024, the refineries in Türkiye imported 2,420,114 tons of crude oil, which are 164,268 tons, or 7.28%, more than a year earlier.

STAR Refinery was inaugurated on October 19, 2018. The foundation of the plant was laid on October 5, 2011. In September 2019, the plant started working at full capacity.

The plant can process 12 million tons of Urals, Azeri Light, and Kirkuk types of crude oil per year. Its main products are diesel fuel (4.8 million tons), jet fuel, naphtha (1.6 million tons), liquid petroleum gas, mixed xylene, and petroleum coke.
