Speaker of Bulgarian Parliament: BSEC countries should focus on reducing carbon emissions

Member countries of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (BSEC) should pay attention to reducing carbon emissions and efficient organization of the transport sector, the Speaker of the National Assembly of Bulgaria, Nataliya Kiselova, said at the plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (PABSEC) held in Baku, Report informs.

According to her, sustainable development and prosperity for the Black Sea region countries can be ensured through strengthening cooperation in the field of economic collaboration: "Preserving this fundamental principle should remain our common goal. Especially in the current period of global changes and military conflicts. Therefore, we should use our collective efforts to improve and strengthen not only regional but also international cooperation by placing good neighborly relations at the center of this strategy."

She noted that currently the existence of modern and efficient transport infrastructure is very important for promoting economic development and connections: "High-quality transport infrastructure not only facilitates commercial relations but also increases the competitiveness of economies by creating sustainable opportunities for development and integration. However, we must not forget that uncontrolled and excessive development of transport systems has a negative impact on the environment and human health."

Kiselova said that in this sense, efforts for sustainable development in the Black Sea region should be directed towards reducing emissions and more efficient organization of transport activities.
