Solar energy production in Azerbaijan decreased by 11%

In January-April this year, Azerbaijan produced goods and provided services worth 861.2 million manats in the production, distribution, and supply of electricity, gas, and steam, down 0.7% from the previous year, the State Statistics Committee told Report.

The volume of products produced in the water supply, waste treatment, and processing sector increased by 2.2% to 119.2 million manats.

Over the past four months, Azerbaijan produced 8,383 million kWh of electricity, which is 1.3% more than the same period last year. Of this, 8,123.8 million kWh were commercial electricity, up 1.4% from a year earlier.

Of this, 427.7 million kWh fell to the production of hydropower plants, which is 28.1% more than a year earlier.

Thermal power plants produced 7,652.4 million kWh, showing a 0.3% increase compared to the first four months of 2020.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan decreased the production of wind power by 11% to 29.9 million kWh.

In January-April, the country produced 13.8 million kWh of solar power plants, which is 7.8% more than in January-April last year.
