The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) is ready to develop the Karabakh and East Zangazur economic regions as a carbon-neutral zone, Report informs, citing SOCAR's Sustainable Development Report for 2023.
According to the report, the company plans to reduce emissions - increase energy efficiency, apply CCU/CCUS (carbon capture and utilization/carbon capture, utilization and storage) within this framework.
It is also possible to establish infrastructure for electric vehicles in those regions.
SOCAR will replace gas with renewable energy, H2, and other green energy solutions for the development of Karabakh and East Zangazur economic regions as a carbon-neutral zone, as well as increase the production of green fuel and strive to replace traditional hydrocarbon fuel with biogas and biodiesel.
