The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) is keen to invest in renewable energy projects, SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf said on the first day of the Baku Energy Forum, Report informs.
The company president noted that for this purpose, the SOCAR cooperates with the world's most well-known, large energy companies: "It is impossible without such cooperation."
Najaf also noted that although SOCAR was founded as an oil and gas company, it already operates as an energy company:
"The special role of Azerbaijan's energy company is to ensure the energy security of neighboring countries and, of course, housing."
He emphasized that SOCAR has set a goal of reducing carbon emissions to zero by 2050: "We believe that we will achieve these goals."
