SOCAR joins Oil and Gas Methane Partnership

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has joined the United Nations Oil and Gas Methane Partnership 2.0 (OGMP 2.0), showcasing its serious intention to reduce methane emissions on a global scale and its commitment to decarbonization goals, Report informs via SOCAR.

By joining this partnership, SOCAR has gained the opportunity to adopt best practices in environmental protection within the global energy sector and enhance its methane emissions reporting to meet international standards.

Joining the Oil Gas Methane Partnership serves the goals of the company's long-term sustainable development strategy, being part of SOCAR's contribution to the fight against global climate change.

Established in 2014 by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), OGMP 2.0 is an international platform focused on comprehensive methane emissions measurement, reduction, and reporting in the oil and gas industry.

The program aims to gather detailed information on methane emissions, promote reduction activities, and ensure transparent accountability through the application of best practices.
