Construction of new petrochemical enterprise of SOCAR and BP in Turkey to commence next year

Construction of a new petrochemical complex (aromatics and PTA (Purified Terephthalic Acid)) of SOCAR and BP) in Aliagha, Izmir, Turkey is planned to start in 2020, Project manager at SOCAR Turkey Energy A.S. Emil Alkhasli said, Report informs.

According to him, the complex is planned to be launched by late 2023.

Tender on design will end in late May: "After completion of projection in a year, construction works will be carried out."

He noted that the Aromatics factory will produce 830,000 tonnes of paraxylene, nearly 400,000 tonnes of benzene, PTA factory will produce 1,250,000,000 tonnes of purified terephthalic acid.

"The Turkish market increasingly needs 1 million tonnes of terephthalic. Benzene is planned to be exported," Alkhasli said.

Cost of the project will be specified by the end of this year.
