Shmyhal: Ukraine does not plan to resume Russian gas transit

Ukraine does not plan to sign a contract to extend Russian gas transit, country's Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said in the Verkhovna Rada, Report informs via Ukrainian media.

"An important element of energy sustainability remains the functioning of the Ukrainian gas transportation system, which is currently operating under zero transit conditions. We have not planned and do not plan to sign any contracts to extend Russian gas transit," he said.

According to him, one of the priority tasks for 2025 will be to further increase gas production, as well as investments in promising Ukrainian deposits.

Shmyhal emphasized that the Ministry of Energy and the state company Naftogaz have been tasked to pay special attention to developing the concept of "Ukraine - Europe's gas safe."
