Serbia to start buying electricity from Azerbaijan in early 2023

Serbia plans to start buying electricity from Azerbaijan in early 2023, Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Jedovic said in an interview with a local newspaper, Report informs.

“If all prerequisites are met, Serbia will start importing electricity from Azerbaijan in January. Negotiations are underway on the remaining issues related to electricity transmission from Azerbaijan through Turkey and Bulgaria,” Jedovic noted.

After the telephone conversation between the presidents of Azerbaijan and Serbia, Ilham Aliyev and Aleksandar Vucic, on August 21, 2022, the office of the head of state of Serbia declared that Belgrade could buy electricity from Azerbaijan on favorable terms.
