Scholz: Germany eyes completely abandoning Russian energy resources

Germany will be able to completely abandon Russian energy sources, according to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Report informs referring to Funke.

“Now we are making the necessary decisions to become independent in the long term,” he said.

According to the politician, the country will be able to successfully survive this winter and remain a strong industrial power.

Scholz noted that Berlin is counting on new import channels.

At the same time, the German chancellor stressed that it is not possible to achieve a return of prices as they were before the start of the situation in Ukraine.

“Starting from 2045, we want to be completely climate neutral...” Scholz added.

In November 2018, the European Commission presented a long-term strategic concept Carbon Neutrality by 2050, which provides for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
