Russia, Iran start swap deliveries of oil products

Russia and Iran have already started swap deliveries of oil products, the list of goods will be expanded, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said, Report informs citing TASS.

“We have already started swap deliveries of oil products, and agreed to expand the range of relevant products, this is also a promising direction,” he said at a press conference following a meeting of the Russian-Iranian intergovernmental commission.

Novak previously told reporters that the parties could agree on swap supplies of oil and gas by the end of 2022. At the first stage, the supply of 5 million tons of oil and up to 10 billion cubic meters of gas is possible.

He noted that the parties are working on the technical details. The Iranian side has already offered Russia to carry out swap gas supplies through its territory, similar to those that go from Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan through the territory of Iran.

Novak said in May that the Russian Federation and Iran were discussing the possibility of supplying energy resources to the north of Iran and various logistics routes: through the Caspian Sea and through other countries, by rail and oil pipeline.
