Russia expects significant growth in gas production by 2035

The Russian Ministry of Energy expects gas production to grow to 0.85-1.05 trillion cubic meters in the draft general scheme for the development of the Russian gas market until 2035, Director of Oil Refining and Gas Processing Department at the Ministry of Energy Anton Rubtsov said at the State Duma Committee meeting on energy issues, Report informs referring to Prime agency.

‘Gas production under different scenarios may vary from 850 billion cubic meters to 1.5 trillion cubic meters,’ Rubtsov noted.

He said that the Russian Federation’s resource base is ready to fully satisfy the growing domestic demand and those niches that will be available for Russia in the world markets.

‘From the point of view of gas supplies, the current estimates according to the general scheme show that gas consumption in the domestic market can amount 490-550 billion cubic meters. At the same time, the share of LNG in gas supplies from Russia to foreign markets can be estimated at 26-32 percent. We are undergoing a serious shift,’ Rubtsov added.

At the end of last year, Russian Energy Minister Nikolay Shulginov reported that gas production in Russia by the end of 2020 is expected to reach 700 billion cubic meters.
