Project Manager: Pandemic hinders IGB construction process

The COVID-19 pandemic makes it difficult to accelerate the Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB) construction, Report informs, citing foreign press, executive director of ICGB project company Teodora Georgieva said.

Despite this, geodetic surveys and delivery of linear pipes will be completed within a few days: "The clearing of the right-of-way along the route is approximately 85% complete. Pipe laying is on schedule, and as of December 8, 114 km have been laid in preparation for the next stages. Welding works are also underway. Now more than 80 km of automatic and manual welding has been performed, more than 50 km of welded pipes have been laid in a trench, " she said.

According to the executive director of IGB, further work will follow on the laying of fiber-optic cable and the restoration of completed sections.
