Parviz Shahbazov: There is great need for long-term gas supply contracts to Europe

Negotiations on increasing the volume of Azerbaijan’s natural gas exports to Europe are not going well, Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said at the Baku Energy Forum, which kicked off today, Report informs.

According to him, over the past 3 years, Azerbaijan has increased its gas supplies by more than 40%: “However, our expectations were higher. There is a great need to conclude long-term contracts here.”

The minister noted that the EU needs more cooperation and partnership with Azerbaijan in this matter.

Shahbazov also added that there are currently work is being done in the green energy field between Azerbaijan and Europe: “We believe that the negotiations in this direction will be fruitful. In the future, it will be more successful in the transportation of green energy. There is a huge potential here.”
