More than 85 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Azerbaijan's Shah Deniz field have been supplied to the Turkish gas market since 2007, Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said at the 1st Azerbaijan-Turkey Energy Forum in Baku, Report informs.
"From July 2018 to December 2021, 13.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas were transported to brotherly Turkey via the Trans-Anatolian Gas Pipeline (TANAP). TANAP accounted for 5.1 billion cubic meters of 7.7 billion cubic meters of natural gas transported to Turkey in the first 11 months of this year," the minister said.
Referring to Azerbaijan's investment activities in Turkey, naming projects such as the STAR Oil Refinery and Petkim for examples, Shahbazov said: "Azerbaijan's investment in Turkey is more than $19 billion. As President Ilham Aliyev said, such amount of money can be invested only in the brotherly country."
The Minister described the 1st Azerbaijan-Turkey Energy Forum as a platform to support the rise of Azerbaijan-Turkey relations to the level of alliance in the field of energy. Shahbazov noted that the Azerbaijani-Turkish union, which ensures security, development and progress, is a leading factor in new geopolitical realities and development processes in the region under the leadership of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The 1st Azerbaijan-Turkey Energy Forum aims to expand existing energy cooperation between the two countries, assess new opportunities for collaboration and implement them through specific projects.
The forum was preceded by a bilateral meeting between the co-chairs. The discussions focused on strengthening relations between the two countries and the prospects for developing cooperation in the energy sector.
