Pakistan has approached Russia with a request to participate in the reconstruction of its oil refineries, Report informs via Interfax.
The energy ministers of both countries discussed this matter during the recent meeting of the Russia-Pakistan Intergovernmental Commission.
"We have discussed Russia's participation in the modernization of oil refineries," Sergey Tsivilev, Russia's Energy Minister, told reporters. He added, "We are exploring other opportunities for Russian companies to get involved in Pakistan's oil and gas sector."
Russian minister also stated that the two sides also considered utilizing the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) for railway transportation and the prospect of establishing direct flights between Islamabad and Moscow.
In turn, Pakistan's Federal Minister of Energy Awais Leghari, emphasized the need for creating additional oil refining capacities in his country. "Pakistan is interested in attracting investments from Russia," he said.
