More than 45 billion cubic meters of gas has been supplied to Europe through the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) to date, Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said, Report informs, citing the ministry.
Shahbazov made the remark during a meeting with TAP Managing Director Luca Schieppati within the framework of the 11th ministerial meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council and the 3rd ministerial meeting of the Green Energy Advisory Council.
During the meeting, the parties reviewed the importance of natural gas and infrastructure development in reliable energy supply and the current state of the TAP expansion process.
They praised the strategic role of the Southern Gas Corridor, including TAP, in ensuring energy security. It was highlighted that TAP meets 15% of the gas demand in Italy and 18% in Greece.
During the discussions, the sides addressed the next steps following the planned 1.2 billion cubic meter pipeline expansion in 2026, along with strategies for reducing methane emissions.
