The oil industry possesses the necessary technologies to maintain a sustainable energy system and must be part of climate change decisions, Report informs referring to OPEC message following the results of the round table meeting at the ministerial level on energy, climate, and sustainable development.
In addition, the meeting participants emphasized the need to use all energy sources and all available technologies, such as, for example, carbon capture and storage, as well as to promote the circular economy to achieve the seventh UN Sustainable Development Goal - providing access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy sources for everyone; and reducing emissions.
The roundtable meeting participants also discussed the Saudi Green Initiative, presented by Saudi Arabia, and issues related to the upcoming 26th UN Climate Change Conference in Scotland.
