Offshore Chirag platform resumes operations ahead of planned date

The scheduled preventive maintenance at the Chirag platform of the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli deposit, developed by an international consortium, led by bp, was successfully completed two days ahead of October 16 set date, Report learned from bp-Azerbaijan, noting that the platform was halted for maintenance and repairs on September 23.

According to the information, all work envisaged by the program was carried out in compliance with all safety requirements. Upon completion, all mining, preprocessing and product export systems from the platform were resumed. At present, the process of a gradual increase in oil production continues.

bp spokesperson Tamam Bayatli said that as part of the program of preventive and inspection work on the Chirag platform, various projects were carried out, including the replacement of equipment at the flare unit, the modernization of the ignition system, and other important repairs.

"The main part of the program was the work on the gas lift project, which will extend the life of Chirag, supporting production from it and ensuring sustainable production," Bayatli added.

As reported, the preventive maintenance work was included in the project budget for 2021.

Operation of other platforms and export operations continued, as usual, bp added.
