Number of oil & gas rigs globally declines for first time in 5 months

The number of operating oil and gas rigs in the world fell last month after rising four months in a row, Report informs referring to oilcapital.

An average of 1,231 rigs operated in the world last month against 1,270 rigs in February. At the same time, the March level is 733 units less than the indicator for the same month last year.

In the US, the number of oil and gas rigs in March increased by 10 units compared to the previous month to 408 units, according to the monthly report of the Baker Hughes oil services company. In Canada, the indicator dropped by 63 units at once - to 108 units.

The number of drilling rigs over the past month in Africa increased by 2 units (to 59 rigs), in Europe - also by 2 units (to 100 rigs), in the Middle East - by 1 unit (to 261 rigs), in the Asia-Pacific region - by 9 units (to 170 rigs). In Latin America, their number has not changed and remained at the level of 125 drilling rigs.

In February, the number of oil and gas drilling rigs in the world increased by 7 percent.
