Number of EV charging stations in Azerbaijan’s liberated lands to reach 20

Azerbaijan plans to install a total of 20 Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations in its liberated territories by the end of this year, the Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency (AREA) under the Ministry of Energy told Report.

Currently, 12 EV charging devices are operational across 6 stations set up by Azerishig OJSC in the liberated territories (including at the Zangilan substation, Jabrayil Intellectual Training Center, and Khojaly Digital Management Center). Additionally, 3 charging devices have been installed in the courtyard of the Congress Center in Zangilan city, and 2 at the car park of the Shusha Hotel and Congress Center in Shusha city.

The expansion of EV infrastructure is part of Azerbaijan's broader efforts to establish a green energy zone in liberated territories. The initiative encompasses a range of sustainability measures, such as generating electricity from renewable sources, implementing energy efficiency practices, promoting electric vehicles, installing renewable energy devices (particularly solar panels) on building rooftops, using LED lamps for street and road lighting, and adopting smart energy management technologies.

Encouraging the use of electric vehicles, including public transport and private cars, is considered a key factor in shaping a cleaner environment in the liberated territories. The necessary EV charging station infrastructure is being developed as an integral component of the green energy zone project.
