Global financing flow is crucial to support green energy projects and sustainable development, according to Nigar Arpadarai, the UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for COP29 Azerbaijan, Report informs.
Speaking on the third day of the Baku Climate Action Week, Arpadarai emphasized the importance of accessible funding for countries and regions vulnerable to climate change.
"Billions of dollars are required to implement such projects, and it is essential that every country, especially those in climate-sensitive regions, has access to these funds," Arpadarai stated. "One of the key elements of success in combating climate change is accessible financing, as well as cooperation between the public and private sectors."
Arpadarai also highlighted that the transition to a green economy should be accompanied not only by technological changes but also by the development of human capital. She noted that specialists with the necessary knowledge and skills are required for sustainable ecological development and green transportation.
"Investment in training and upskilling is necessary," Arpadarai declared. "It is crucial for governments and educational institutions to collaborate in preparing cadres that can meet the needs of both today's and future generations in the transition to a green economy."
