The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has commissioned its 50th gas station in Romania ahead of the 26th anniversary of the Contract of the Century and the professional holiday "Oil Workers' Day."
Report informs that the new station is located in Sibiu, one of the country's leading tourist destinations, frequented by foreign travelers and locals. That is the third gas station in the region.
Head of SOCAR's Romanian office Hamza Karimov said that SOCAR, which successfully implements investment projects in Romania, continues to expand its network of filling stations.
"We plan to increase the number of SOCAR gas stations in Romania to 60 by the end of 2020. As you know, the whole world is suffering from the coronavirus pandemic this year. The COVID-19 virus has affected the world, including the Romanian economy. However, SOCAR has successfully completed the first six months of this year in Romania and has fully met the strategic development plan for 2020," Karimov added.
Dan Dumitrache, Development Manager at SOCAR Petroleum, said that petrol and diesel fuels are sold here like in any other station. Local and Azerbaijani-made products are also offered in the "Nar" cafe.
According to him, an Azerbaijani corner has been established at the stations under the policy of President Ilham Aliyev to promote the "Made in Azerbaijan" brand.
"Monitors installed at all SOCAR stations throughout the country regularly show videos promoting Azerbaijan. At present, SOCAR's filling stations already function in 24 Romanian regions, " Karimov said.
Notably, SOCAR operates in Romania through SOCAR Petroleum SA, established in 2011.
