New SOCAR division to manage gas infrastructure

The new division of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) — SOCAR Midstream Gas Operations LLC (SMGO) — will be responsible for the management, supervision and operation of all gas transportation infrastructure, including SOCAR gas pipelines and gas storage facilities in Azerbaijan and abroad, Report informs referring to a statement from SMGO.

"SOCAR Midstream Gas Operations LLC (SMGO), is a newly established entity of SOCAR, tasked to manage all midstream gas-related operations. SMGO spun off from SOCAR Midstream Operations (SMO), enabling both SMO and SMGO to operate autonomously and focus on their respective strategic goals, representing a significant step in organizational evolution, creating a solid foundation for enhanced operational focus, strategic clarity, and future growth for both entities.

SMGO is the technical and commercial operator of the South Caucasus Pipeline (SCP) across Azerbaijan and Georgia, and represents SOCAR's interests in the Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP), Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), and SCP Projects.

Aligned with SOCAR's operating model, SMGO responsibilities will be extended to manage/oversee/operate all midstream gas infrastructure (including all gas pipelines as well as gas storage facilities) of SOCAR in Azerbaijan and abroad."
