MP: Azerbaijan attracts most green energy investments in South Caucasus

Azerbaijan is the country attracting the most investment in green energy in the South Caucasus, MP Vugar Bayramov said during today's parliamentary session, Report informs.

According to the deputy, more than $1 billion has been invested in green energy production in the country in recent years: "This funding has contributed to increasing green energy efficiency and effective energy use not only in Azerbaijan but also in the region."

Bayramov noted that the share of green energy in Azerbaijan's total energy consumption is currently 17%: "According to the targets set by President Ilham Aliyev, this figure is expected to reach 35% by 2030. At the same time, Azerbaijan intends to reduce carbon emissions by 40% by 2030."

Referring to statistics from international organizations, the deputy stated that Azerbaijan's share in global carbon emissions is less than 0.1%. "In the first ten months of 2024, green energy production in the country increased by 80%. Both comparisons and figures show that Azerbaijan is one of the leading countries in green energy and energy efficiency," Bayramov emphasized.
