Minister: Nearly 160 billion cubic meters of gas produced in Shah Deniz up to date

The Shah Deniz field, the primary source of resources of the Southern Gas Corridor, has produced nearly 160 billion cubic meters of gas up to date, and the reserves of this field top 1 trillion cubic meters, Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov said at a meeting with OPEC Secretary-General Mohamed Hamel as part of this visit to Doha for participation in the events of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum.

"Given the approved and projected reserves of the field, Azerbaijan has great opportunities for development as a gas producer," the minister said.

The meeting discussed current trends in the global gas market, the current state, and prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and GECF.

The Minister of Energy noted that Azerbaijan had implemented one of the most ambitious projects of the 21st century - the Southern Gas Corridor. Touching upon the prospects for expanding the Southern Gas Corridor, the minister spoke about the necessary steps and gas reserves of Azerbaijan.
