Minister: Azerbaijan's significant green energy potential will be exported to Europe, Türkiye

Azerbaijan's green energy agenda, a key driving force behind COP29 initiatives, has made significant progress, Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said at the 11th Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council Ministerial Meeting and the 3rd Green Energy Advisory Council Ministerial Meeting held in Baku, Report informs.

"In addition to domestic consumption, Azerbaijan's significant green energy potential will be exported to Europe and Türkiye. In addition, we are working on the creation of a green interconnector between Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, the final destination of which will be Europe," Shahbazov said.

According to the minister, in addition, Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Georgia and Bulgaria have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to cooperate in the field of transmission and trade of green energy: "These initiatives mean more than access to green energy. They strengthen regional cooperation. Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria are the main players, while Georgia, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are opening new horizons for green energy exports. This creates opportunities for extensive infrastructure development in the Caspian for wind energy development, equipment supply, energy trade and project financing, benefiting international companies and financial institutions."
