Milana Bazarova: Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan may create joint venture for production of components for renewable energy

Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan may create a joint venture for the production of components for renewable energy, Milana Bazarova, head of the Institute of Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan, said at the round table themed “Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan: new horizons of cooperation” held at the Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center), Report informs.

According to her, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan have great potential in this direction and this initiative will help to achieve the goals: “Uzbekistan aims to increase renewable energy production to 25,000 megawatts in the next few years. 10 solar and wind power plants are expected to be constructed by 2025. By 2026, it is planned to produce up to three gigawatts of energy. In 2030, it will reach 8 gigawatts.”

According to her, the renewable energy sector is relevant as a direction of strategic development for both Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan: “Considering this, it would be appropriate to establish a joint venture for the production of components.”

Milanova added that the countries can also cooperate in the field of "hydrogen economy", which is becoming increasingly popular in the world.
