Masdar, Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, is showing great interest in investments in solar and wind energy in Georgia, Georgian bureau of Report informs.
This issue was discussed at a meeting between Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Natela Turnava and representatives of the company.
The minister noted that Masdar is famous for its activities in the region, and the new solar power plants they are developing are characterized by low electricity tariffs: “In this regard, the construction of such plants is extremely important to increase our competitiveness, especially during the period of rising prices for oil, oil products and natural gas all over the world. Therefore, we will rapidly implement agreements on joint projects with them.”
On April 6 this year, the Azerbaijani government and Masdar signed a contract for the construction of a 230-megawatt solar power plant in the Alat settlement.
The solar power plant will be located on the territory of Gobustan. The total investment value of the project is about $200 million.
