LNG flows to Europe reach historic high

European countries imported record volumes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in May, as evidenced by the data of Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE).

Report informs, citing Russian sources, that more than 12 billion cubic meters of this type of fuel has been imported; since January, the region has received a total of 56.2 billion cubic meters.

The previous high was reached in April 2023. For the second month in a row, European countries have been importing record volumes of liquefied natural gas. At the same time, since January of this year, the EU states have purchased 7% more of this type of fuel than in the same period in 2022.
