Kazakhstan has emerged victorious in its bid to host the prestigious 26th World Petroleum Congress (WPC) in 2028, Report informs via KAZENERGY Association.
During a recent meeting between KAZENERGY and the leadership of the World Petroleum Council (WPC Energy), crucial matters of bilateral cooperation were discussed, including technical support, scientific research, and personnel training. The successful negotiations culminated in the signing of a Memorandum, officially confirming Astana as the host city for the 26th WPC Energy Congress in 2028.
Astana's bid received unanimous support from all 57 member countries of the Council, representing an impressive 96% of the world's oil and gas production and consumption.
The World Petroleum Congress, first held in 1933, stands as one of the most authoritative global platforms for discussing critical issues in the world's energy and oil agenda. This esteemed event traditionally attracts heads of state and government, leaders of major corporations and relevant government agencies, NGOs, international organizations, and leading experts from around the world.
Previous hosts of the World Petroleum Congress include the United Kingdom, United States, Norway, China, Brazil, Spain, Qatar, Russia, Türkiye, and Canada. The 2026 Congress is set to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, further emphasizing the event's global reach and significance.
