Kazakhstan exports over 700,000 tons of oil via BTC in 6 months

More than 700,000 tons of Kazakhstani oil were transited through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) main export pipeline in the territory of Azerbaijan in the first half of 2024, Report informs, citing KazMunayGaz.

The company also noted that the Chairman of the Board of Directors of KazMunayGaz (KMG) Askhat Khasenov met with the President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) Rovshan Najaf.

“The parties discussed the main issues of cooperation. A stable supply of Kazakhstani oil was mentioned at the meeting. In 2023, 1.057 million tons of oil were shipped from the Aktau port, while in the first half of 2024, this figure stood at over 700,000 tons," the information said.

Khasenov noted that KazMunayGaz aims to further increase the exports:

"Currently, KazMunayGaz is studying the possibilities of increasing the supply of Kazakhstani oil along the Trans-Caspian route together with its partners."

He expressed confidence that the joint initiatives of the two companies will be successfully implemented.

During the meeting, the sides also discussed the prospects of cooperation in decarbonization.
