Kazakhstan continues to discuss possibility of oil supplies via Baku-Supsa route

Kazakhstan continues to discuss possible oil supplies via the Baku-Supsa route, Kazakh Energy Minister Almassadam Satkaliev said at a government session, the Kazakh bureau of Report informs.

"The possibilities of the Baku-Supsa pipeline are being considered. The throughput capacity is 5 million tons per year, with possible supply volumes of up to 3 million tons per year. The use of this route is currently under development and discussion," said Satkaliev.

He also added that the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) remains the most reliable route for Kazakh oil exports.

"Today, CPC is the most reliable and efficient route for Kazakh oil exports. Currently, there is technical capability to increase pumping volumes from 67 to 81.5 million tons/year, including the Kazakh section - from 53.7 to 72.5 million tons/year," he noted.

The minister added that total oil exports from Kazakhstan in 2024 are planned at 68.8 million tons of oil. Last year, Kazakhstan supplied 70.5 million tons of oil to external markets with production of 90 million tons.

According to the minister, oil exports will be carried out through the following main routes: Caspian Pipeline Consortium - 55.4 million tons of oil, Atyrau-Samara - 8.6 million tons, China - 1.1 million tons, Aktau port - 3.6 million tons, by rail - 0.05 million tons.
