Impact of climate factors on energy production in Azerbaijan being modeled

Today, it is important to calculate the demand for green energy as well as its penetration, which means the integration of renewables into the general energy grid, Rana Humbatova, Deputy Director of the State Agency for Renewable Energy Sources under the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan, said in her speech on the 5th day of Baku Climate Action Week, Report informs.

According to Humbatova, various approaches are used in Azerbaijan for this purpose: "However, empirical data still forms the basis of all approaches. We also need to consider climate conditions. Because renewable energy depends on various weather conditions and other factors. This raises the question of how these factors affect energy production. For this, we use modeling."

Humbatova noted that the agency is currently working on the 3rd national contribution plan: "The first plan envisaged a 35% reduction, and the second plan a 40% reduction. An assessment of our capabilities has been carried out. We're talking about reaching net zero. The experiences of many countries in this regard have been evaluated, and the amount of investment required for these works has been studied. As the agency, we are currently calculating the inclusion of renewable energy across all sectors. We are calculating how much they can penetrate into different sectors. In this case, we need professionals who can process the existing data."
