IATA: Azerbaijan preparing for transition to sustainable aviation fuel

Climate policy harmonization will create conditions for the effective introduction of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in Azerbaijan, Hemant Mistry, director of Zero Emissions at the International Air Transport Association (IATA), said at the IATA Aviation Energy Forum in Baku, Report informs.

"Azerbaijan, as one of the major oil and gas producers, is hosting the COP29 conference. This demonstrates its commitment to climate action and is an encouraging signal for the global climate agenda. In this context, the country is considering the possibility of harmonizing its climate policy and standards with international norms. In particular, in the aviation industry, this could be an important step towards the introduction of SAF - sustainable aviation fuel," he noted.
