IAE predicts 2.4% increase in global electricity demand in 2022

Global electricity demand is expected to grow by 2.4% in 2022 after last year’s 6% increase, Report informs, citing the International Energy Agency (IEA).

According to the information, the military actions in Ukraine and the consequent energy prices soar caused an increase in utility prices.

At the same time, according to the IEA forecast, the Asia-Pacific region and Africa will show the highest growth rates of demand - about 3.4% and 3.9%, respectively, while in the United States, the figure will be about 2%, and in Europe, it will be less than 1%.
