Azerbaijani gas is of particular importance in diversifying energy supplies to Europe, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijarto said at the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding for encouraging cooperation between Bulgartransgaz (Bulgaria), Transgaz (Romania), FGSZ (Hungary), Eustream (Slovakia) and the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), according to Report.
Peter Szijarto noted the importance of ensuring the security of energy supplies to Europe, in particular, the expansion of routes and volumes of supplies. According to him, Azerbaijani gas is of particular importance in this issue.
The Hungarian foreign minister stressed the importance of creating an infrastructure to ensure supplies.
Without the availability of appropriate pipelines, it will be impossible for Central Europe to receive the necessary volumes of supplies from Azerbaijan, he said.
