Global oil prices rise 5%

Oil prices closed April 17 trading in the green and rose over the week after two consecutive weekly declines, Report informs via trading data.

Brent and WTI benchmark oil futures are not being traded on April 18, as the exchanges are closed due to Good Friday.

The price of June Brent futures on the London ICE Futures exchange at the close of the market on Thursday increased by $2.11 (3.2%), to $67.96 per barrel.

WTI oil futures for May on electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) rose by $2.21 (3.54%), to $64.68 per barrel.

The oil market was supported by hopes for a trade agreement between the US and the EU, as well as new US sanctions against Iran.

At the end of the current week, both brands have increased in price by approximately 5%.
