European companies took about 600 million cubic meters of gas from underground storage facilities per day. The total volume of fuel fell below 85 billion cubic meters, Report informs, citing Gas Infrastructure Europe, GIE.
As of the morning of January 23 (gas day), European gas storage facilities were 77.81% full (-0.54 percentage points per day).
The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said earlier in January that Russia cut 80% of gas supplies to the European Union in the first eight months of last year. The countries of the region were able, she said, to replace the ditched volumes of Russian gas without resorting to power outages. In particular, Europe has significantly increased LNG supplies from the United States.
