Garadagh Solar Power Plant to be inaugurated

The groundbreaking ceremony for the 230-megawatt Garadagh Solar Power Plant will be held in Azerbaijan today, March 15, Report informs.

The ceremony will be attended by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the United Arab Emirates Suhail Mohammed Al Mazroui, and Masdar CEO Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi.

On April 6 last year, the Ministry of Energy and Azerenergy signed an investment, energy purchase, and transmission network connection agreement with Masdar on a 230-megawatt Solar Power Plant (SPP) project.

The SPP will generate 500 million kWh of electricity per year, save 110 million cubic meters of natural gas, reduce carbon emissions by 200,000 tons and create new jobs. The cost of the project is $200 million. The station will be integrated into the power system by connecting to the Southern s/s.
