G20 countries allocate funds for renewable energy

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020, governments in G20 countries have committed at least $ 648.60 billion to supporting different energy types through new or amended policies, Report states, referring to Energy Policy Tracker.

G20 countries allocated at least $293.1 billion for fossil fuels ($63.93 per capita), $213.09 billion to oil and gas, $43.70 billion to coal, $246.06 billion to clean energy ($ 53.66 per capita), and $109.43 billion for other energy.

Among these countries, India ($ 133 billion, more than 35% for clean energy), the United States ($ 99 billion, up to 27% for clean energy), Canada ($ 77 billion, more than 36% for clean energy), the United Kingdom ($ 75 billion, up to 28% for clean energy), and France ($ 59 billion, more than 36% for clean energy) lead in terms of energy spending.
