Four countries to ink green energy cooperation memorandum in Baku tomorrow

On April 4, Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Georgia, and Bulgaria will sign a Memorandum on Cooperation in the field of green energy, Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, stated, Report informs via Haber Global.

The minister noted that the four nations are working on a joint project to facilitate the transmission of electricity produced in Azerbaijan to Türkiye, and subsequently to Europe.

“A memorandum will be signed between the four countries within the framework of the 11th Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council and the 3rd Ministerial Meeting of the Green Energy Advisory Council, which will be held tomorrow in Baku,” Bayraktar added.

The minister further stated that new electric transmission lines will be integrated with four existing pipelines, including the South Caucasus Pipeline, the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline, the Trans-Adriatic Gas Pipeline, and the Greece-Bulgaria Interconnector.

“We will implement a new project with Azerbaijan that will enhance the energy supply security of Türkiye and Europe—not only in the natural gas and oil sectors, but also in electricity,” he mentioned.

Highlighting Azerbaijan’s role in renewable energy, Bayraktar said that cooperation will be established to ensure the efficient delivery of electricity generated through sustainable methods.

The draft memorandum was previously agreed upon during the third meeting of deputy ministers from the four countries, held in Istanbul on February 7, 2025.
