The first components of state-of-the-art wind turbines for the Khizi-Absheron Wind Power Plant have been delivered to the Baku Shipyard by Saudi Arabia's ACWA Power Company, Report informs, citing Baku Shipyard.
The wind turbine components were unloaded at the temporary warehouse area of the Baku Shipyard and will be transported to the 240 MW Khizi-Absheron Wind Power Plant, which is currently under construction in Azerbaijan, for installation in the next phase.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the Khizi-Absheron Wind Power Plant took place on January 13, 2022. The project involves the installation of 40 wind turbine units, each with a capacity of 6 MW. Seventeen wind turbines will be installed in the Perekeshkul village of the Absheron district, while 23 wind turbines will be set up in the Sitalchay village of the Khizi district.
The project, with a total value of $300 million, will be implemented on a build-own-operate basis by ACWA Power. Once operational, the wind power plant is expected to generate 1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually and save up to 220 million cubic meters of gas.
The Khizi-Absheron Wind Power Plant is scheduled to be commissioned in 2025.
