Fatih Donmez: 40 wells to be drilled in Sakarya field by 2026

Works on a large gas field in the Black Sea ‘Sakarya’ continue with the participation of more than 50 vessels, Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Donmez said, Report informs referring to Anadolu Agency.

At the moment, 10 wells have already been drilled, the number of which is planned to be increased to 40 by 2026.

“The laying and testing of three underwater pipelines from the Black Sea field continues. The construction of the main gas pipeline, 170 km long, has been completed. Also, work on the construction of a compressor station on land has been completed by 85%,” he said.

He explained that this compressor station at the first stage will supply 10 million cubic meters of gas to the country’s gas distribution system, and in the future the figure will reach 40 million cubic meters.

He reminded that the volume of the field’s reserves reaches 710 billion cubic meters. The estimates are based on the findings of one of the leading companies in this field, DeGolyer & MacNaughton.
