Expert: Azerbaijani gas can help Slovakia's energy security

Azerbaijani gas supplies to Slovakia today may become the only alternative to Russian fuel, Slovak political scientist Jozef Hrabina told Report.

According to him, there is an opinion in Slovakia that Europe is experiencing an economic crisis, therefore Bratislava needs to find a solution to ensure its energy security.

"We are definitely thinking about supplying Slovak industrial enterprises and households with Azerbaijani gas. I think there is an ongoing discussion among our politicians about the practical implementation of these plans," said Hrabina.

The political scientist emphasized that at the moment, the decision to supply gas from Azerbaijan seems to be the most correct one. "I believe this is the only viable solution for replacing Russian gas supplies from another country friendly to us," he said.

Hrabina emphasized that the public does not yet fully understand the scale of the current problem, but Slovak media will "ask tough questions" to politicians regarding the state's energy security.

The political scientist also emphasized that Slovakia would like to participate in the "Caspian Sea - Black Sea - Europe" green energy corridor project.

"Slovakia is considering participation in this project, which can strengthen our energy security," the expert concluded.
